Project Manager - Renewables

The Centrica Renewables Team is a small and dedicated team of experts working together to maximise opportunities in this new and exciting industry. The role involves significant travel, predominantly in the UK and the rest of Europe.
The majority of Centrica’s renewables projects are offshore wind farms. The project manager may be required to take a project from pre-consent through the procurement process, through design, supply, installation and commissioning to handover to operations. The projects are generally run on a multi-contract basis, valued between £10m and £500m. A project manager is assigned to each major project, sharing support services provided by HSE, public affairs, consents, commercial, engineering, construction, commissioning and project controls with the other project managers.
They will be responsible for delivering all offshore wind farm project activities, ensuring that the project is managed in such a way that value is maximised, Centrica’s reputation is protected, risks are mitigated, interfaces addressed, and the required project controls are in place.
DIMENSIONS:
Managing a team of c12 direct reports with Overall financial control of the contracts including approving all contractor invoices, variation orders and claims (limits to be confirmed) and to act as Company’s legal representative in relation to the administration of the relevant contracts.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Developing and managing the project ion time within budget
- Build and safeguard relationships with key internal and external stakeholders ensuring they receive regular status reports and ensuring good communications with all stakeholders Including contractors and DTi etc
- Ensure strong health, safety and environment (HSE) performance through compliance with Centrica policy and legislation and application of industry best practice.
- Develop an appropriate resourcing strategy and manage and develop the project team to ensure that the team is adequately and appropriately resourced and has the skills necessary for effective performance.
- Ensure a smooth transition from the development phase to the project phase and then again from the project phase to the operational phase.
- You will be expected to work closely with HSE advisors to ensure that Centrica’s HSE policies and procedures are implemented and adhered to across all stages of its projects., minimising accidents and incidents.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
The appointee will be a chartered engineer with experience of managing and leading a team in a project environment with Understanding and experience of the energy industry from a technical and commercial perspective
Ideally they will also possess experience of the offshore engineering and construction industry |
