Engineering Manager - Renewables

The Centrica Renewables Team is a small and dedicated team of experts working together to maximise opportunities in a new and exciting industry. Key to establishing Centrica as a leader and gaining the required competitive advantage is the ability for all team members to work together facilitating each other’s discipline. The Engineering Manager role involves significant travel, predominantly in the UK and the rest of Europe.
The Engineering Manager will support development in the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) of potential renewables projects, supporting projects in ensuring a cross package design that maximizes the value of the projects as well as highlighting and addressing interface issues, considering constructability and operability. To support Operations & Maintenance in technical issues which arise in the operations phase of the renewables assets and leading a team of c10 engineering professionals.
The team works within a matrix structure, requiring the Engineering Manager to assess and balance the needs of their internal customers spread across Development, Projects and Operations.
Specific duties will include:
- Ensuring compliance with the Project Execution Plans (PEPs) and Centrica
- Business Management System. Developing and implementing a strategy for delivering engineering services. Assisting in managing schedules, progress, NPV and expenditure against budget.
- To have a good awareness of Centrica Renewable’s engineering, construction, commissioning and operational challenges, communicate these to the team and assist in providing solutions.
- Assisting in achieving project objectives, KPIs and promoting an awareness of these within the project team. Ensuring HSE performance through compliance with Centrica policy and legislation and application of industry best practice.
- To assist in identifying and managing the interfaces between key contractors
Your skills and experience will include:
- Experience of managing and leading a team in a project environment
- An Engineering degree, ideally with chartered status
- Understanding and experience of the electricity generating industry
- Understanding and experience of the offshore engineering and construction industry
