Sustainability and Carbon management Consultant

Our Client needs someone with a thorough understanding of the theories and practice of sustainability in construction, having a track record of practical implementation of energy and carbon conservation and sustainable design. You will have additional responsibilities as a team manager to the Regional Consultant manager and play an important role in developing and support the Nottingham based team whilst having close contact with clients.
Having the ability to work with people at all levels, with analytical skills and understanding of technical issues of energy and environmental management, being a self-starter with the determination and resilience to get things done and make things happen. Our belief is that a diverse team leads to more imaginative outcomes and we are positively committed to developing each individual in the company.
You would work in a team, supervising other members, assess and advise on carbon, energy and environmental management, low carbon design procurement, costing of energy and sustainability measures and technologies, assessment of environmental performance of buildings. The post will have a strong costing and value component.
Responsibilities
The work will consist of all or some of the following and the candidate should demonstrate aptitude and willingness to undertake new types of work, given appropriate training.
- Energy / carbon consumption modelling
- Energy Performance Certificates
- Environmental assessment (BREEAM LEED or similar)
- Life Cycle Assessment
- Resource efficiency
- Understanding clients’ business drivers
- Understanding of alternative methods of project procurement and sustainability repercussions
- Awareness of life-cycle costing, risk management, maintenance costs
- Managing the team in the absence of the Manager
- Working closely as a No.2 to the manager, support with bids and tenders to new and existing clients
Candidates should have experience in the construction industry delivering building related energy or environmental services with a knowledge of energy efficiency / carbon issues, renewable energy, sustainability metrics, environmental performance targeting and construction materials environmental impacts.
They will have excellent communication skills and looking forward to a challenging role within a growing and dynamic company.You will need to be numerate and have a high standard of written English in respect of report writing, should be highly motivated, have the ability to work independently, and be able to successfully interface with clients at all levels.
You will preferably have previous supervisory experience or show the aptitude and skills required to move the team forward offering support where required. |
