| Job Title: Head of Radiation Protection |
| Description |
| To manage the provision of Health Physics documentation and Competence Standards
To communicate effectively on Health Physics issues across the company
To define the company's policy, standards and guidance on nuclear safety, radiological protection and health physics aspects of emergency response. These standards will be fully compliant with legislation and industry best practice, cost effective, outward looking and contract focused
To be responsible for two Company Performance Indicators on radiological dose performance
To manage and maintain staff competence and training and development requirements for personnel engaged in radiological protection activities
To act as first line manager for members of the Infrastructure Health Physics Group carrying out all management functions in accordance with the company's Line Managers Handbook
To manage the Group budget by identifying the costs associated with maintaining the standards and providing the required Health Physics service capability
To encourage service performance through the development of appropriate measures
Responsibilities
To operate within the company standards relating to Security, Quality, Environment, Safety and Health
To carry out the responsibilities of the Head of Corporate RPA
To manage the Health Physics Technical (Skills) Centre
To manage the Health Physics team in the Infrastructure Directorate and develop arrangements to extend to the whole of the company
To ensure that new or modified standards are integrated into the Company assurance system to facilitate cost effective application
To provide technical development to the maintenance and development of the assurance management system
To establish collaborative functional partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to develop world class performance standards
To define competence standards, and training requirements for radiological roles within the Company, and provide assessment services to the company's Managers and other stakeholders as required
To identify and drive longer term development of RPAs to meet the Company requirements
To sponsor Review, Learn & Improve activities which assess performance of radiological assurance systems and identify improvements
To represent the company at relevant cross-industry meetings
To appoint Company RPAs and assess their suitability
To be appointed as an RPA 2000 assessor and represent the Company needs at assessor forums
To develop strategies to implement company policies in nuclear safety, radiological protection and health physics aspects of emergency response to deliver world class radiological assurance
To develop functional partnership with internal and external stakeholders for nuclear, radiological protection and health physics aspects of emergency response
