Job Summary
We seek a Graduate in Geosciences with hands-on experience of ARC GIS digital mapping system essential for a 12 month contract at OPC's Oil Company client based in Surrey.
Will work as a member of a multi-discipline geosciences team working on subsurface studies simulating oil and gas reservoirs on various softwares e.g., PETREL, Landmark etc. Will collate information / synthesize for activity maps and digitize in ARC. Oil company experience is desirable, but not essential.
This job will suit either a newly qualified graduate or experienced GIS technician / technical assistant.
Full Job Description
- Participate as a member of a multi discipline team on integrated studies, ensuring that they are completed to a high standard, on time and within budget.
- Support reservoir engineering simulation team, using ARC GIS and PETREL software liaising closely with geoscience and or other engineering staff.
- Provide data input for the provision of technical reports and recommendations.
- Maintain and continuously improve data management, inputting and updating well files, geological and drilling data, both manually and digitally.
- Review the existing technical files and recommend, seek approval and implement changes.
- Undertake other adhoc projects and tasks as requested by management.
- Ensure that the company's technical archiving policy is efficiently carried out.
Qualifications
- A Graduate of Geosciences
Experience Required
- Knowledge and experience of working with ARC GIS software essential
- Oil company experience whilst preferred is not essential
- The work could suit a newly qualified graduate who has the required software experience or an experienced
Technical Assistant Qualities
- Strong team and inter-personal skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skill required.
- Highly numerate and analytical (accuracy, carefulness and thoroughness are essential requirements in the job)
- Well organized with good planning skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to work in a small team Information Technology
- Excellent computer skills and proficient in MS Office software suite.
- Hands on experience on ARC GIS software is essential
- Working knowledge of PETREL software an advantage, but not essential
- Collate scout information and synthesize for activity maps
- Digitize data using in-house platform
