We currently have the above vacancy available on a permanent basis. This role is home based with requirement to spend some time at the London office. The purpose of this job is to support the Energy Saving Trust and the Energy Saving Trust Advice Centres to deliver support to Local Authorities on cutting carbon emissions.
The post holder will also be expected to act in strategic support of the east midlands, west midlands and eastern regional managers, to be on hand for input into key regional meetings (which have a bearing on local authorities), input into local authority events and any other local authority support which is deemed to be a suitable use of time.
The main responsibilities of the role will be to:
· Support the delivery and development of the local authority one-to-one support programme
· Support the Regional Managers deliver their objectives
· Contribute to the development and monitoring of programmes and services to local authorities
· Link work with local authorities to other core EST activities
· Define and own the primary `areas of in-house expertise¿ required by EST Local Authority team
· Support the Head of Local Authority Services to develop the EST Local Authority Strategy.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- Excellent understanding of sustainable energy issues and solutions (focusing on housing and transport).
- Good understanding of the local government (and local community) framework, and the associated issues and opportunities.
- Excellent inter-personal skills for developing relationships with Local authorities (from CEO¿s to Officers), Advice Centre Managers, Energy Saving Trust Regional Managers. Good team working skills for working within and across teams.
- Good understanding of project and financial management: progress planning and monitoring, budget management, reporting and evaluation, managing third party contractors, forecasting etc.
- Good communication skills, and sensitive to stakeholder needs. Demonstrable ability in public speaking and facilitation.
- Understanding of UK policy context on sustainable energy and how to influence other organisations¿ policies and strategies.
