ESB has recently adopted a new €22 billion Strategic Framework to 2020 that will see major company investment in renewable energy, the halving of its carbon emissions within 12 years, and the achievement of carbon net-zero by 2035. Fifty percent of the overall investment package is geared towards investments in our renewable future. €4bn of this will be directly invested in renewable energy projects. The plan, which will establish ESB as a world class renewables company, makes emissions reduction and energy efficiency central to its ambitious targets.
By 2020, ESB will be delivering one-third of its electricity from renewable generation. This will include over 1,400 megawatts of wind generation, in addition to wave, tidal and biomass. The wind generation business resides in the ESB International Subsidiary, Hibernian Wind Power (HWP).
ESB International Limited is a growing energy company and one of Europe's leading engineering and consultancy organisations. ESB International employs circa 1300 personnel between its offices in Ireland and abroad. We build, own, and operate power stations, as well as provide a full range of engineering and consultancy services to clients in the power sector worldwide.
ESB Wind Development are seeking a Wind Energy Project Coordinator to oversee the consenting and progression of potential and existing wind farm sites in Ireland to pre-construction stage.
General: One position based in Dublin.
Key Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Identifying, creating and initiating wind generation projects
- Negotiation with key site landowners
- The selection of the most suitable contractors and consultants for the progression of project(s)
- Management of planning and permitting application processes
- Management of both internal and external stakeholders at a national and local level
- Negotiation of commercial agreements including, Land lease agreements, Joint Development agreements
- Budget preparation, monitoring and control
- Ad hoc support to management as directed
The Candidate
Education and Experience
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Business or Planning related discipline desirable with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience
- Strong project management skills and a highly organised approach to work with EIAs
- Experience of Renewables sector, in particular wind
- Understanding of power generation business
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Good interpersonal and presentation skills
- Lobbying and stakeholder management
- Track record of deal completion
- Proficiency in standard computer technology is essential and experience of specialist software packages e.g AutoCAD, Windfarmer would be advantageous
- A full drivers licence and access to a vehicle are considered essential
