The Renewable Fuels Agency, the UKs independent sustainable fuels regulator, is currently looking for a Biofuels Research Manager to lead our research on the sustainability of biofuels for road transport. Key research projects will address the effects of biofuels on agriculture; the environment; carbon emissions; sustainable development; and other economic activities. Other research will look at the indirect effects of biofuels, both in terms of changes in land-use and the diversion of wastes or by-products to biofuels.
As well as managing research projects, the Research Manager will collaborate with other organisations and conduct primary research (probably desk based). The role will also involve communicating the results of the RFA's research activities to stakeholders. It is anticipated that the role will develop over time and there will also be opportunities to participate in other aspects of the RFA's work.
The post will be based in St Leonards-on-Sea near Hastings with a salary of £25,038 to £30,345 depending upon experience, plus benefits including civil service pension scheme. The closing date for applications is 6 April 2009 with interviews on 16th-17th April.
