It is a happy working environment where the order book is reassuringly full! My client's core activity is to deliver complex infrastructure projects. To succeed on numerous, wide-scale projects, and implement state-of-the-art technology and equipment, we need strong, dedicated teams. My client's Human Resources strategy is based on three core values defined thanks to a large participation from its employees: Trust Team Action These values bring all my client's employees together in a shared culture, and aim to inspire a strong feeling of belonging to a single unified organisation. At the top of my client's priority list for sustainable development is people development, recognition of employees' individual and collective contribution, and commitment to health and safety. The company's guidelines are therefore to communicate with transparency, continuously manage and develop people, be accountable and work as a team. You would be working with a company that is the world leader in integrated power plant, in power production services and air quality control systems. My client works with all energy forms such as: coal, gas, nuclear, fuel-oil, hydropower, wind and is a leader in environmental protection (reduction of CO2 emissions, reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions). The Group is also developing CO2 capture processes that could lead to commercial scale in the medium term. Accomplishments include: A record 38 gas turbines, including 18 GT26 and a major contract for steam turbines and generators in a coal power plant in South Africa. An order for four conventional islands in Chinese nuclear power plants and several hydro projects in Brazil, China, Vietnam and Uganda. In the Power Service Sector my client signed: 10 operation and maintenance contracts (mainly for gas-fired power plants) and many small and medium sized orders, notably in Europe and USA. Main duties and responsibilities: We have a number of new engineering opportunities within the boiler engineering section of my client's plant engineering function for mechanical engineers, chemical engineers and metallurgists. I am recruiting both for engineers who have established competence in boiler engineering and for engineers who would like to further develop their experience in this area. My client's Plant Engineering function, based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, provides power plant engineering expertise and services on coal, gas and nuclear power plants within the UK and overseas. The service provided by the boiler engineering team includes: • Operational assessment, failure investigation and problem solving on existing coal, gas, oil and biomass fired boilers and heat recovery steam generators • areas such as fuel handling and transportation, mills, combustion, thermal performance, control and instrumentation, pressure parts, material failure assessment and selection, pipe work, burners and firing, ductwork, air heaters, fans, dampers, expansion joints, gas air heaters, ash and dust handling • ensuring design solutions comply with relevant design codes such as ASME BPV, BS EN12952, BS EN 13480 and BS EN 13445, and utilising appropriate software for stress and thermo-fluid calculations . Training, which may include visits to the USA and Europe, will be provided. I am looking for people who are customer focussed; IT literate; hold a valid UK driving licence and possess excellent communication and team working skills All positions require visits to site for plant assessment, failure investigation and solution implementation surveillance and to other business locations within the UK and occasionally overseas Essential criteria: Candidates should ideally be degree qualified in engineering or a related subject and competent in one or more of the above areas, or have a keen interest in developing competency. Holding or working towards Chartered Engineer status would be an advantage Desirable criteria: Accommodation provided: No, but a relocation package maybe offered dependant on role.
