My client works with all energy forms such as: coal, gas, nuclear, fuel-oil, hydropower, wind and is a leader in environmental protection (reduction of CO2 emissions, reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions). The Group is also developing CO2 capture processes that could lead to commercial scale in the medium term.
Main duties and responsibilities:
My client in Derby is looking for 3 Business Development Managers to drive the next phase of their expansion in the global market for engineered boiler solutions, including low NOx burners, biomass co-firing, boiler control systems and plant upgrades, for utility and industrial boilers.
The Business Development Manager role includes:
setting customer, market and country strategies
opportunity identification and development
establishing and implementing successful bid strategies through to successful final negotiations with customers
typical project values ranging from €1m to €50m
Reporting to the Head of Sales & Tendering, the activities will include:
customer and account management
developing sales opportunities for products, services and integrated technology solutions
leading the tender and negotiation phase of project opportunities
developing and providing input to sales strategies both at market and country level
liaising with other units world wide
liaising with internal departments and with the proposals team, to ensure sales documents are compiled, technically and commercially in line with customer and company requirements.

Essential criteria:
Essentially the successful candidate should demonstrate:
multi million euro capital contract sales experience in an Engineer/Procure/Construct environment
ideally, a background in utility power generation, but other backgrounds could be appropriate
HND/Degree level knowledge through education or experience in a relevant engineering discipline
a highly dynamic pro-active individual and strategic competence
ability to develop and maintain excellent customer account relationships
an excellent commercial background and negotiation skills
a proven track record in winning highly complex technology based contracts
ability to prepare high quality selling documents driven by customer requirements and based upon technical and commercial advantages
ability to work on their own initiative and/or as part of a coordinated team
ability to travel overseas and work away from the office
full driving licence, ideally with no current penalty endorsements
excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate both verbally, in writing and by outstanding presentations
